BON APPETIT |
In the late 1970’s Dan’s ability to present food in an unpretentious
yet appetizing light caught the eye of the new owners and art
direction staff of Bon Appetit magazine. Dan shot the first 24
covers and many of the feature article illustrations. The new look
launched Bon Appetit from virtual obscurity directly to America's
number one food magazine.
Shown here are a few Bon Appetite cover examples, they ranged
from such normally mundane subjects as stovetop cooking to
peering deep inside a slice of mouth-watering apple pie. The
feature articles, three shown here, included everything from
creamy Valentine’s Day desserts to dark, rich chocolates and
warm, crusty breads.
All of these shots were taken long before the advent of Photoshop
and the use of digital imagery and manipulation. Everything was
done painstakingly in front of and within the camera and committed
to film. |
